Shows A * against a show means there is a confirmed Balwen class. Please ring to check otherwise (if you let me know I will include this information on the list). Remember points can only be accepted if there is a dedicated Balwen class with a panel judge.

Inspection days Pre-book with the Secretary at least 2 days before the inspection. Mobile No. on the day for all inspections: Chris Lewis 07792 232758. Bring two completed movement licences, outward and inward, with accurate details of animals. N.B. No animal will be inspected unless you bring Sire and Dam numbers with you - Remember your tags. (Reminder - please abide by the Society's Bio-Security rules and the 6 day standstill on your holding unless you have a designated isolation unit approved by Defra).

BIO-SECURITY RULES
BALWEN WELSH MOUNAIN SHEEP SOCIETY
FOR SHOWS AND INSPECTIONS

Please read and observe the following:
  1. All animals presented must be tagged (left ear) with an official UK flock number/ individual number tag, and must be accompanied with the relevant paperwork. (Movement Forms, Sire and Dam numbers.)
  2. All members presenting animals for inspection MUST book with the secretary or allocated Committee Member. Please inform us of the number of animals to be inspected.
  3. All members must ensure that they wear clean clothing and footwear before entering market sites, and must disinfect their boots before and after loading and unloading.
  4. Excessively dirty vehicles will not be allowed entry. Therefore, make sure that your vehicle is clean before arrival.
  5. All vehicles transporting livestock will be subject to a documentation check before entry to the market site.
  6. Wash hands thoroughly when leaving pennage areas.
  7. Please observe market staff’s instructions at all times
  8. Any bio-security costs will be the responsibility of the member.
  9. All animals presented for inspection must have clean feet. Please also bed them on straw rather than shavings, as this makes inspection easier.
