I would like to thank all members who kindly gave up their time to help on the stall which was of great interest to the public and hopefully new members. We won the reserve rosette for the effort.
I would also like to thank Dick Mills who kindly loaned us a ewe and lamb to go on the stall.

The Society Open Day to celebrate our 25th Anniversary was held at Castel Cennen, Llandeilo. The day, featured on Ffermio (S4C) was highly successful with a fantastic turnout

25th Anniversary Open Day
The Society is holding an Open Day to celebrate its 25th Anniversary on Sunday October 10th 2010 at Carreg Cennen Castle, Trapp, Llandeilo, courtesey of Mr & Mrs Bernard Llewellyn (Flock 2).The day will start at 11am, activities include:-
Junior Stock judging
Sheep trimming demonstration
Sheep dog training demonstration
Quiz, etc
Entry for adults and guests will be the price of the lunch (£11)
Entry for members and children of members 16 and under FREE (lunch provided)
Please book your place by 20th September using the form sent out in the newsletter or contact the Secretary for further details.

Following a successful AGM the updated list of committee members is now available on the Breed Society page.
New Website Launched
Welcome to the new look website. All the information from the old site is still here along with some new features for members and those interested in the Balwen breed.Balwen Sheep Society members can now advertise sheep for sale free of charge on this site as part of their annual membership fee. Advertisements are only accepted if they are for specific animals and not for general marketing purposes . Only registered animals may be advertised. Go to the marketplace for further details.
Also new is the Picture Gallery. Please email your pictures to the Webmaster. Photos from this years upcoming shows would be particulary welcome. If you do not have a digital camera but wish to send photographs in please post them to the Breed Society secretary.

Society Dinner
Trophy winners at the Society Dinner held in November 2009
Members enjoyed the evening at the Llanelwedd Arms in November with guest speaker Mr. Pat Tantrum.
Pencefn Cup winner for most flock points gained at shows during 2009 was Katie & Georgina Davies (Flock 289).
NSA Sale and Show Results
104 animals were entered in the sale. Trade compared well with last year.
49 animals were entered into the show.
